Defense Mastery (Energy) (Adventurer Ability (levels 6+) Return to top

 

Modification-Point Cost (M.P.C.): None. You will automatically have this ability if you started this class at the creation of your character.  If you started this class after leveling, the MPC is: 70

 

Take control of an incoming energy attack that directly effects you.

This cannot be acomplished unless you see it coming.

Energy cannot be controlled from a back-side or back-attack.

If you wish to redirect an energy attack at a target, you must roll to strike that target as normal, and must not have taken an offensive turn previously. You may only direct an energy attack at a target if you are facing it directly (front).

 

Ability-Points to invoke: 35 (per energy attack you attempt to control).

 

To do this, you must successfully do the following in order:

1. Center.

2. Off-Line Defense.

 

Maximum adjustment: N/A

 

Note:

Defense Mastery is not possible if you are surprised.

Immerse yourself in the ability and power of the dreaded Phoenix, or a Phoenix-like ability (any breed, or a power, that sheds the element of acid, air, earth, fire or water) without being effected by it.

 

Modification-Point Cost (M.P.C.): None. You will automatically have this ability if you started this class at the creation of your character.  If you started this class after leveling, the MPC is: 70

 

Prerequisites ---------------------------- : Shintar Monk.

Ability-points to invoke:

35 per turn.

Area of Effect:

Shintar Monk only.

Avoidance-Roll:

*Prepared: Vs. "Mental-Attack" (x2 Mental-Strength = % chance).

**Unprepared: Mental-Strength Check (Mental-Strength = % chance).

*Prepared:

You are aware that you will be effected by an element, invoked by a Phoenix, or phoenix-like ability.

 

**Unprepared:

You are unaware that you will be effected by such an attack.

Damage:

None.

Duration:

As long as you can concentrate undisturbed.

If you are disturbed, you must make an Unprepared avoidance-roll to continue. If you fail, you will become effected (as normal).

If I start taking damage, can I get this ability back under control.

 

Answer:

Not until you remove yourself from the the effects for at least 1 turn (5 seconds).  Once you lose control, you will be effected.
